Dianne Feinstein Elementary School PTA
Stay up to date with the DFES CAN-Do Committee!
As you know by now, the San Francisco Unified School District has announced a budget deficit of $113 million over the next two years. This is catastrophic for our children, our teachers, and our schools -- and we think Enough is Enough!

The Dianne Feinstein CAN-Do Committee is a growing group of parent and teachers in our community working hard to see that these budget cuts stay as far away from the classroom as possible. If you would like to get involved in this very important effort, here's what you CAN-Do:

1) Join the CAN-Do committee Google Groups to get timely information and updates about Actions.
Go to
http://groups.google.com/group/DFES-CAN-Do-Advocacy and ask to be granted membership to the group. If you have problems, contact Meg McGraw-Scherer at megmcgrawscherer@gmail.com.

2) Attend the Funding our Future town hall meeting on February 25th at Marina Middle School.
A coalition of parents will host a discussion with SFUSD Superintendent Carlos Garcia, Mayor Gavin Newsom, State Legislators Ma, Ammiano, and Leno, as well as business and non-profit leaders and educators. The topic will focus on what we can do to mitigate these enormous budget cuts and effect positive, lasting change for our children's education.

3) Participate in the March 4th Statewide Day of Action.
Send a powerful message to SFUSD, the Board of Education and our state legislators by protesting these cuts and layoffs. The first protest will begin at Dianne Feinstein Elementary School at 1:15pm, and continue with a City-wide Rally at the downtown Civic Center at 5pm.

4) Donate to our Annual Fund.
The Dianne Feinstein Elementary School PTA is committed to making sure these budget cuts have as little impact on our children as possible. Please help us in this effort by donating to our Annual Fund. Even a small donation (as much as $5) will open opportunities to grants and other funds. So consider what you can reasonably contribute and click on the yellow donate button to the left of this page.
